More disappointment for Portsmouth's Ronan Curtis as Republic of Ireland suffer embarrassing loss to Luxembourg

Ronan Curtis was once again omitted from the Republic of Ireland's match-day squad in their abject World Cup qualifying defeat to Luxembourg last night.

Curtis is currently on international duty with Eire, having been named in Stephen Kenny's 27-man set-up.

The Pompey winger was surplus to requirements in their 3-2 loss to Serbia on Wednesday night.

And there was more frustration for Curtis as again had to watch from the stands as the Republic crashed to a shock loss against Luxembourg in Dublin.

Gerson Rodrigues notched the only goal for the visitors in the 85th minute. Ex-Fratton favourite Enda Stevens featured for Eire.

Curtis will now be hoping to be given some game-time in the Republic's friendly against 2022 World Cup hosts Qatar in Austria on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old should then be available for Pompey to face Rochdale on Friday, April 2.
