An enforced break because of coronavirus and a frozen pitch at Accrington meant the last time Kenny Jackett’s side lined up in the third tier was at Hull on December 18.
And while there was plenty of rustiness in the Pompey performance due to that lay-off, there was enough there to secure an important win at Highbury Stadium.
Marquis’ match-winning effort came in the 16th minute – but it wasn’t enough to win him the man of the match.
