And the left-back who’s made an outstanding impression since arriving from Birmingham is open to the prospect of linking up with Kenny Jackett’s men on a full-time basis.

But the Blues are wary of the Championship side placing an inflated valuation on the 22-year-old, in the wake of the positive impact he’s had since arriving at PO4.

The news Jackett would like to bring Seddon in permanently will excite supporters, who’ve immediately taken to the Reading lad who’s added attacking intent and an excellent assist and set-piece threat to his side.

Seddon has now made 17 appearances for Pompey, with his maiden goal coming in the 3-0 success over Rochdale last month.

His arrival was prompted by a lack of first-team football at St Andrews after being frozen out by Pep Clotet.

Seddon started five games in August after loan spells at Stevenage and AFC Wimbledon last term, but then failed to make an appearance after falling behind Kristian Pedersen in the pecking order.

That paved the way for his move to Fratton Park - and the marauding left-sided player hasn’t looked back since.

Seddon has spoken of his desire to find a permanent home since joining Pompey, and has indicated helping his loan side’s promotion bid is the priority over impressing his parent’s club’s manager.

He signed a three-year deal with Birmingham last summer meaning he would command a fee if Jackett wants to land him permanently.

It remains to be seen what valuation the midlands club place on Seddon and how much they will look to take advantage of his Pompey form.

Birmingham’s financial situation could also be a significant factor in negotiations.

Their players last week accepted a 50 per cent wage deferral on salaries above £6,000 amid the coronavirus crisis.

Birmingham are also facing the prospect of another points deduction, after once again breaching the EFL’s financial regulations for a second successive season.

They were docked nine points after posting losses of nearly £49m over a three-year period - almost £10m more than the agreed threshold.

Seddon has been Pompey’s first-choice left-back since arriving, remaining favoured over Brandon Haunstrup and Lee Brown, after his recovery from an Achilles injury.

The Blues are expected to take up the 12-month option on Brown’s contract as his deal comes to a close this summer. Haunstrup is also out of contract.
