Pompey players acclimatising well for the heat of battle

It’s normally that time of year when Pompey’s players are having a kick-around on the beach while soaking up the sun.

Yet these are no ordinary times. So instead of them being on their hols and relaxing in the heat, the Blues players are ensuring they’ll be ready for the heat of battle on the pitch – whenever it may be – by reporting for training. Tom Naylor, Cameron McGeehan, Ben Close, Bryn Morris, Christian Burgess and Andy Cannon were present when our News photographer rocked up at the club’s Roko training base this morning. All were socially distancing, as advised by the government, and all six were acclimatising well to the hot conditions, with Portsmouth reaching temperatures of 25C today. It was certainly warm enough to ensure the players didn’t need to bring all their own kit with them, with the club unable to provide training gear because of ongoing coronavirus restrictions. Who needs Honolula when you’ve got Hilsea!
