But the Blues are not looking to push the striker out of the door as the countdown to tonight’s 11pm deadline gathers pace.

Pitman has not featured for eight games, failed to make the past six squads and was absent from the club’s training ground yesterday as he undertook his own programme at home.

The 32-year-old has been attracting interest from Swindon this month, with Plymouth also mentioned as a possible destination.

With six months remaining on his contract, Pitman appears comfortable sitting out the remainder of his deal and isn’t agitating for a move.

But if there was any late interest which suited all parties Pompey would allow the former skipper to leave.
