Pompey boss Kenny Jackett has insisted he will not call for Matty Taylor to be suspended despite his unsavoury post-match clash with Ronan Curtis on Tuesday night.

Tempers flared after the Blues were held to a 1-1 draw with Oxford United at Fratton Park.

A melee broke out following the final whistle, with Curtis and John Mousinho arguing and both being subsequently booked.

As the skirmish ensued, a photo then emerged of a confrontation between Curtis and Taylor.

A similar incident happened last weekend when Preston’s Darnell Fisher was captured clutching Sheffield Wednesday striker Callum Paterson’s groin.

The North End defender was charged by the FA and faces a three-match ban.

Jackett revealed Curtis hasn’t made a fuss about the incident since.

And Pompey won’t be clamouring for ‘top professional’ Taylor to be hit with a ban.

Jackett told The News: ‘I have (looked at the pictures). I'm fine with Ronan, he is a competitor and is okay.

Matty Taylor looks a top pro. My sides have played against him down the years and he looks a top pro.

‘Whether it is a one-off incident, I don't know, but Ronan had no complaints at the end of the game. As quick as the tempers flared, they went away.

‘We have a lot of respect for Oxford. I don't know Matty Taylor but from the outside, he looks a top professional.

‘He's not my player so it's not something I am concerned about. My focus is on King's Lynn then Blackpool and Peterborough.

‘It's not something I am calling for. I've never met Matty Taylor, but he looks like a top professional, he really does.

‘There will be no complaints from us. Tempered flared temporarily but it was over as quick as it started. Both benches and both teams ended on good terms.’
