Despite moving to the County Ground on a season-long loan in the summer, May featured just 13 times for the League Two leaders – with just five coming from the outset.

The 22-year-old won’t feature for the Blues in tonight’s EFL Trophy quarter-final tie against Scunthorpe as it'll mean he won’t be able to represent another Football League club this term.

Instead he’ll turn out for the reserves for their game against Doncaster in the Premier League Cup at Westleigh Park (7pm).

Pompey are hoping to get May another temporary switch for the remainder of the season and potential suitors have shown early interest.

Blues boss Jackett said: ‘Adam is back with us, back training and will play for our under-23s tonight at Havant & Waterloville.

‘There have been some enquiries into his agent and to the club, but there is nothing concrete yet.

‘We’re just waiting if maybe it’s this or maybe it’s that.’

May has made 29 appearances for Pompey in total, having made his debut in April 2015.
