But the Blues are set to be boosted by a Callum Johnson comeback for Saturday’s trip to New Meadow.

And Michael Jacobs is in line to be available against Steve Cotterill’s side after training all week without a hitch, following his surprise return against Ipswich.

Marquis’ availability seems a longer shot for the game, however, with the striker still not training after picking up an ankle injury at Wembley against Salford City.

Pompey boss Danny Cowley indicated the news was looking better for Callum Johnson as he returned to the group this week, after he picked up a calf problem against Oxford United last month.

And Jacobs has trained without a problem this week after coming back into the fray after a hamstring issue, with a second-half introduction against Paul Cook’s side last Saturday.

Cowley said: Michael has trained all week, which is good.

‘We’ll see Callum comes through the full training week and then make a decision off the back of that.’
