His stock has been steadily rising at Spurs, with the Maidstone lad featuring for the Premier League side in this season’s Europa League – coming on as a second-half sub against Ludogorets in November.

He also stood out for Spurs in their 5-0 win against Marine in the third-round of the FA Cup last week, playing the full 90 minutes.

Many of the Fratton faithful, however, will remain unaware of the teenager’s talents.

But in a brief statement, Jackett admitted the new arrival had many distinguishing features to his game which made him an ideal signing.

‘He’s also a set-piece specialist, with a very good range of passing.

‘After breaking through and working with the Tottenham first team over the past year, he’s now 100-per-cent ready to feature in the EFL.’
