The Blues brushed aside non-league King's Lynn 6-1 on Saturday to move into the FA Cup third round.

Now Pompey's attention turns back towards League One, where they face several promotion rivals throughout next month.

Then Pompey have tricky trips to Ipswich (December 12) and leaders Hull (December 19) – with a home game against Fleetwood (December 15) ensconced in the middle.

Jackett's satisfied with his side's current league position of fourth, as well as progressing in the FA Cup and Papa John's Trophy.

Now the Blues must make the most of their upcoming fixtures.

Jackett said: ‘We have to keep working at it. The good thing is that we are in a decent position in the league, in two cup competitions and our season is ahead of us.

‘If you're looking between now and the turn of the year, there are some real big games, some key games.

‘We are in a good position in the league to try to capitalise on that and that is what we want to to.

‘We want to look forward. The signs are promising, definitely, and we feel that have a lot of ability in the squad. But we are the ones that have to do that.’

In total, Pompey have scored 43 goals in all competitions this term – more than any other side in the Football League.

Jackett's been impressed with the attacking potency his side have shown.

He added: ‘We have got good options right along the front line and we've got Michael Jacobs to come back, as well as Reeco Hackett-Fairchild out on loan.

‘We haven't brought lots of players in. For the vast majority of it, it has been the lads who have been here a little while.

‘But we have worked hard with those lads, persevered and need to keep going now.’
