And the Pompey boss has praised the left-back’s impact since his injury return - despite the fact he’s yet to play a minute of first-team football.

Jackett explained Brown was a late absence from the trip to Fleetwood as he went down with a sickness bug on the eve of the meeting at Highbury Stadium, leading to Brandon Haunstrup being drafted in.

Brown trained today without issue, however, and is back in contention for the MK Dons clash.

Jackett said: ‘Lee Brown had sickness and diarrhea on Friday night, so was back in London.

‘He’s okay. He trained today and it was a 24-hour thing.

‘It kept him away. He didn’t feel great on Friday or Saturday morning.

‘Then you don’t want it to go through the group so we got Brandon up on Friday.’

Before being laid low for the Fleetwood game, Brown’s been back in contention for six games after his recovery from nearly two months out with an Achilles injury.

He’s been unable to displace Steve Seddon, however, who has been in excellent form since joining on loan from Birmingham.

Jackett noted that’s not stopped his vice-captain being an important influence on the dressing room, however.

He added: ‘He hasn’t (played) but he’s trained and been fine.

‘The recovery from his Achilles has been good now and he’s been okay for a number of weeks, but the form of Seddon has kept him out.

‘He’s been a good player for us and, as well as that, a good influence for us because he’s a good person.

‘Those kind of things can be underestimated, but you can see from the inside.

‘He talks well, organises and is good in term of attitude, morale and spirit.

‘He does bring that, but has brought that since he’s been back in the group and has contributed definitely.'
