Portsmouth could find out start date for the 2020-21 season today

The 2020-21 domestic football calendar, including a season start date, could be finalised today.

The PA news agency reports discussions between the Premier League, the Football Association and the English Football League on this subject have continued this week.

Saturday, August 29 and Saturday, September 12 have been mooted as two start dates for the League One campaign.

An international break is sandwiched between the two.

Pompey are preparing for a fourth campaign in the third tier after suffering play-off semi-final defeat to Oxford earlier this month.

The Blues opened the 2019-20 season with a 1-0 loss at Shrewsbury.
