Portsmouth fans call for Rasmus Nicolaisen to start as Blues name starting XI for Sunderland game

Pompey boss Kenny Jackett has named an unchanged side for today’s game at Sunderland – but not all fans believe it’s the right move.

Despite picking up a creditable 2-0 win at Gillingham in midweek, and the manager keeping faith with his starting XI from that day, some are off the opinion that Rasmus Nicolaisen deserves to start.

The Danish defender has only played 45 minutes of League One football since his loan move from Midtjylland was completed in September – coming on as a half-time substitute in the victory against MK Dons.

Meanwhile, his only start has come in the EFL Trophy – the 3-0 win against Southend, as he sits behind Jack Whatmough and Sean Raggett in the central-defensive pecking order.

Elsewhere, others have been questioning the selection of Andy Cannon in what looks to be a 4-4-2 formation, while there’s some wanting Ronan Curtis to get a recall.

Who’d be a football manager, hey?!?

Here’s a selection of the views shared on Twitter.

By the way, new signing Jordy Hiwula has been named on the bench.

@GeoIVX: Looking like a flat 442?

Harness up front with Marquis?

Feel for Nicolaisen. I'd ask for the loan to be cancelled if I were him.

@Alfredo52083790: Let's hope Marquis can get a bit of a scoring streak on.

@al3xmacdonald_: We want rasmus.

@harry91790723: U cant drop either of the cbs so if he’s looking to get nico in it has to be a 3 bk with naylor sitting, curtis up top with john n harness in behind with cannon then a defensive wb on 1 side n williams on other.

@Michael1898_: Rasmus booking his flight back home.

@gary_guinness: Why Cannon.. Close or Curtis for me.. Cannon too negative.

@Clarkeyboy12345: No reason to change so good job off we go.
