On the 17th anniversary of Pompey clinching promotion to the Premiership, Nigel Quashie got in touch to wish the Blues family well during these testing times.

On this day in 2003, Harry Redknapp's side’s 1-0 victory over Burnley ensured their return to the top flight.

Quashie was at the heart of Pompey's goal, with his cross setting up Svetoslav Todorov's 73rd-minute finish – and a jump into the Fratton End to celebrate with fans.

After being tagged on Twitter reminding him of the game, the former Scotland international – who spent five years at Fratton Park – gave his regards to supporters amid the coronavirus crisis.

Quashie wrote: ‘Hope you and all the supporters of @Pompey along with their families and close friends are all ok, well and safe at this difficult time. #staysafe.'

Quashie joined Pompey from Nottingham Forest in 2000.

He scored 14 goals in 163 appearances before departing for Southampton in 2005.
