Portsmouth fans must wait until Thursday for Arsenal FA Cup fifth-round details

The Blues were drawn at home to the Gunners after overcoming Barnsley 4-2 at Fratton Park in round four.

But a week has past since the two teams were drawn together on Monday, January 27, with no additional information released.

All fifth-round games are to be played the week commencing Monday, March 2 – the first time ever all Cup games will be played in midweek.

Yet further details will not be announced until the completion of the six outstanding fourth-round replays, which take place on Tuesday and Wednesday night.

And even then information will not be known until Cup broadcasters BBC and BT Sport work through which games, and how many of the fifth-round ties, they want to show live.

That process will determine when ties will be played.

It is also understood that games could be played over three separate nights.

Pompey’s home game against Premier League Arsenal and Man City’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday are the only two confirmed fifth-round fixtures to date.

The remaining line-up will be decided by replays this week.

Sheffield United await the winners of the Cardiff v Reading replay, Chelsea will host either Liverpool or Shrewsbury, Oxford United and Newcastle must play again to determine who plays West Brom in the next round, Leicester wait patiently to see who comes out on top when Birmingham host Coventry on Tuesday night, Derby or Northampton will play host to Manchester United, while the winners of the Spurs v Southampton replay on Wednesday night will entertain Norwich.

This is the first time the Blues have reached the last 16 of the competition since 2010 – the year they lost in the final to Chelsea following Didier Drogba’s 59th-minute winner.

All fifth-round ties must be determined on the night, with no replays scheduled.
