Gaffer For A Day: I love John Mousinho, I don't want anyone else as Portsmouth boss
Mike Briscoe, aged 36 from Southsea, assesses Pompey’s 2-1 victory over Blackburn...
How do you assess Pompey’s performance?
We had a bit of everything over that 90 minutes. In the opening 10-15 minutes we started off really well, the crowd were really behind our team, things were looking good - then John Swift made a terrible mistake in midfield.
Suddenly the atmosphere was a bit negative, we looked nervous, confidence had gone a bit. It got even worse at the start of the second half, I was very worried Blackburn were going to get a second.
Then, in the last 30 minutes, we played really well, we got stuck in, we were gritty, the hard work was there and we won 2-1. It felt like the second half of last season where we outworking teams, getting stuck in.
If we go to Derby next Saturday and put in a performance like the last 20 minutes, I feel we can get a result.
What are your thoughts on John Mousinho?
I have always been pro-Mousinho, I really don’t want him to go, I love him. He has done so much for this football club - I am so, so happy we got that result.
I know how much pressure he’s under, I do feel sorry for him. With the budget in place, where we are at the table is where we should be with the budget. I want him as manager, I don't want anyone else. Hopefully we can get through December, winning a few more, and then it’s into the transfer window.
I just think it’s unfair on John. I know we haven’t looked great lately and obviously it’s worrying that we’re barely scoring any goals and have been shipping a lot as well, but hopefully we can now get a result at Derby.
Who was your man of the match?
I am split between Callum Lang and Terry Devlin, but Devlin had a solid all-round game, so just edges it. He was the best player on the pitch throughout the 90 minutes.
He was the most consistent player over the 90 minutes, whereas a lot of the others, such as Josh Murphy, Colby Bishop and Lang, all had very good last 25-30 minute.

Devlin could possibly have put a challenge in for their goal, but, other than that, he was outstanding and you always know what you're going to get from him. He’s solid for the majority of the games.
It was possibly his best game in a Pompey shirt.
What do Pompey need from the transfer window?
We need a good 4-5 players, definitely another striker. I don’t agree with what the club have said about who’s going to want to come here when Colby Bishop is clearly our main man, I don’t think that’s the right thing to think or to say.
We have shot ourselves in the foot by not recruiting another striker who is proven and can score goals in this league.
We also have to get another attacking midfielder. On paper, if you look at Conor Chaplin, Josh Murphy and Callum Lang you’d think ‘What a front three, we are going to score loads of goals and create loads of chances’. But it hasn't been happening lately.
Then there's a central midfielder needed, with Luke Le Roux and Mark Kosznovszky not really doing it yet, while John Swift is up and down. That leaves you with Andre Dozzell and Marlon Pack.
Nicolas Schmid - 7
Terry Devlin - 9
Ibane Bowat - 8
Hayden Matthews - 8
Zak Swanson - 7
Andre Dozzell - 7
John Swift - 5 (Mark Kosznovszky - 7)
Minhyeok Yang - 5 (Colby Bishop - 8)
Conor Chaplin - 7
Josh Murphy - 8
Callum Lang - 9
