'Make or break. Serious money needs to be spent' - Portsmouth fans react to 5-0 hammering v Bristol City
Pompey fans have been reacting to the Blues’ 5-0 defeat at the hands of Bristol City
Pompey fans on social media have been reacting to the Blues’ New Year’s Day hammering at the hands of Bristol City.
The Blues lost 5-0 at Ashton Gate as their start to 2026 got off to the worst possible start.
And with Norwich beating QPR, the three-point advantage they had over the bottom three has now been reduced to just one going into Sunday’s home game against Ipswich Town.
Here’s what Pompey fans on X had to say at the final whistle.
How Pompey fans reacted to 5-0 defeat at Bristol City
@RoryPeter7: The team we had to field today is mental. BIG January coming up. Need some serious players through the door, starting with a proper striker.
@PompeyNewsNow: We simply cannot and must not wait until the back end of the month - no ifs buts maybes about it.
@mark11s: Mousinho and players fairly booed and met with “that was embarrassing “ as they approached the away fans.
@OutlawTig: Accused of impersonating a championship team. Verdict, guilty as charged.
@JackPUP_: Constantly backed the Eisners but this January transfer window is make or break for them, that squad is no where near good enough for this league serious money needs to be spent.
@PompeyTransfer: What’s the saying… ‘Pay peanuts get monkeys’. No point even analysing that one, miles off it from minute 1… now time to see that Eisner ambition.
@Lawro77: When I saw the line-up I felt the same as I did on Monday night when I saw that one. Remarkable that we won on Monday with the side we had. Feel for the fans who made the journey today.
@lambyboy19: Pompey just had their pants firmly pulled down, absolutely clueless.
@JackDavis10: That was grim but not at all surprising comparing the lineups, simply Bristol City have a better player in every position and we were like for like. Didn’t help with an extremely rare Schmid horror show. Season is not defined by today, this transfer window however.
@J206992: That team does not deserve our away support.
@mrjack001: Worst performance I’ve seen this year!
