Portsmouth and Derby County faithful all say same thing as key change made to Fratton Park fixture
The date of Pompey’s home game against Derby County next month has been changed
Pompey and Derby County fans on social media have been venting their frustrations after a change in date for their game at Fratton Park next month.
The Championship fixture was due to be held at PO4 on Saturday, March 14 at 3pm. However, on Friday, it was confirmed the match will now take place on Monday, March 16 (8pm), so it can be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
The game could have a huge bearing on both club’s futures, with Pompey currently just one point above the drop zone ahead of their game against Sheffield United on Saturday, while Derby sit just two points off the play-offs despite their current position of 11th in the standings.
Matches between both sides in recent years have also proven to be entertaining affairs, with just one of their past seven games ending goalless and 18 goals scored in that time.
Yet, there’s fans from both clubs unhappy with the decision made, with a 400-mile, weekday round trip now awaiting Rams supporters.
Here’s what fans have been saying following confirmation of the date change.
@GibMonkeyPompey: So frustrating when you’ve taken the week off to watch three matches only to find Sky has decided to ensure you CANT watch one of them!
You are ruining football…. Please put the #Pompey Derby match back to a Saturday and just televise it in that day!
@EasingwoodBen: Cheers sky. Hotels booked for Saturday.
@WELLS35: Well that’s annoying.
@fieryfox94: 400 miles round trip on a Monday night is really poor from sk
@IndianaDerman: No thank you. Please move it back.
@IM_Pritchard: Cheers @dcfcofficial us season ticket holders yet again pushed aside for the armchair fans that are only lining Sky’s pockets!
@FredVoller: 1 Saturday home match in the whole of April and March!
@brandondcfc04: Sky thinking of the fans again.
@caseytwo: Boo.
@LewisWatto10: We will never play Portsmouth away on a Saturday ever again.
