Millwall emerge as threat to Portsmouth in race for highly-rated Sheffield Wednesday man
The Swedish midfielder has made 26 appearances for the Owls this season
Millwall have emerged as fresh rivals to Pompey in the race to sign in-demand Sheffield Wednesday man Svante Ingelsson.
The Blues had become increasingly confident they could land the highly-regarded Swede, who has been identified as a central-midfield partner to Ebou Adams.

That was despite an initial bid in the region of £300,000 being knocked by the Hillsborough club’s administrators late last week.
However, Championship rivals Millwall have now shown their hand and, according to the Sheffield Star, the Lions had an offer turned down on Tuesday.
Despite their precarious financial situation, the Owls value the 27-year-old considerably higher than the figures both clubs have so far tabled.

Although out of contract at the season’s end, a club option effectively means Ingelsson is tied to them until the summer of 2027, thereby increasing their valuation.
The Sheffield Star also claim Derby and a number of other clubs are also admirers of the former Udinese man, with interest now expected to ramp up as the transfer window nears its Monday (February 2) deadline.
Regardless, Pompey remain in the hunt for Ingelsson, who has started 26 games this season and also featured in the Owls’ 2-0 defeat at Bristol City on Saturday.
The Blues have already snapped up Millenic Alli, Ebou Adams and Keshi Anderson in this window, with the trio involved in Sunday’s south-coast derby draw against Southampton.
However, John Mousinho told The News on Sunday that they were closing in on ‘a couple’ more signings.
