With Middlesbrough goal hero Conor Chaplin unable to play against his parent club, John Swift comes into the number 10 position, while Conor Shaughnessy returns for Madiodio Dia.

Mousinho has also changed both his wingers, with Milli Alli and Adrian Segecic handed recalls in place of Keshi Anderson and Gustavo Caballero.

Caballero came off at the Riverside Stadium with a tight groin, which explains his squad absence tonight, while Anderson had previously started successive games after returning from a two-month absence through injury.

There is also a surprise among the substitutes, with Bianchini included after four-and-a-half months out through injury.

Pompey also had to register him in the 25-man Football League squad, taking up the final spot, in order for the Frenchman to be involved.

Pompey: Schmid, Devlin, Poole, Shaughnessy, Williams, Pack, Dozzell, Segecic, Swift, Alli, Bishop.

Subs: Bursik, Anderson, Waddingham, Bowat, Le Roux, Blair, Dia, Bianchini, Brown.
