Ex-Portsmouth and Crystal Palace favourite grabs global headlines after ruthless sacking by KSI

KSI had been co-owner of the non-leaguers for just 15 days before the dismissal

A former Pompey favourite has hit global headlines after becoming the first managerial casualty of KSI.

Now Andy Carroll has been challenged with putting Dagenham & Redbridge on the path to the Premier League under the non-leaguers’ new minority share holder.

However, despite winning 3-2 at Farnborough on Tuesday night, first-team manager Lee Bradbury was dismissed hours later.

Bradbury, who enjoyed two spells at Fratton Park as a powerful centre-forward, joined the Daggers in June 2025 after working as former Blues team-mate Darren Moore’s assistant at Port Vale.

It represented a return to the hot seat for the 50-year-old after a 21-month absence, with the former Hawks boss not having managed since being dismissed as Eastleigh boss in August 2023.

KSI had spent 15 days with the Daggers

Yet with seven points from a possible 12 since KSI linked up with the Daggers two weeks earlier, it was decided to remove him as manager on Wednesday.

Now former Liverpool and Newcastle striker Carroll, who has been injured since December and is also a minority shareholder, has taken over the 12th-placed club, who are presently six points short of the play-offs.

‘Dagenham & Redbridge wish him every success in his future endeavours.

‘Andy Carroll will take the team on an interim basis, and further updates will be communicated in due course.’

As a player, Bradbury totalled 167 appearances and scored 46 goals over two Pompey spells after initially joining from the Army, while featured in May’s Alan Knight charity match to raise funds for dealing with prostate cancer.

He also has a wealth of coaching experience, managing Bournemouth in the Football League, as well as steering the Hawks the two promotions, and a spell in charge of Eastbourne.

Appointed at the Daggers in June 2025

The Daggers turned to the former Crystal Palace and Manchester City striker last summer following their relegation from the National League.

‘It’s gonna be a rollercoaster for sure but I hope to bring Dagenham and Redbridge back to the glory days. And once we reach that point, I want to go even further.

‘Reaching the Premier League would be a dream. And I believe it is 100% doable. It will take a long time, so to the Daggers fans, please be patient. I want you to know that I am fully committed to making sure Dagenham and Redbridge is a team that everyone will know worldwide, and will be an exciting team to watch and support.’

Now, 15 days into the role, he has made his first big decision, by replacing Bradbury with Carroll on an interim basis.
