£1m midfielder rips up Portsmouth contract after nightmare 13 months at Fratton Park
The midfielder made 17 appearances after joining in July 2025
Luke Le Roux has quit Pompey - after just 13 months at Fratton Park.
There were high expectations when the midfielder arrived on the south coast from IFK Varnamo in a £1m deal in July 2025.

However, despite having two years still remaining on his deal, he now leaves for nothing after reaching a mutual agreement with the Blues.
It had long been clear that Le Roux had no future at Fratton Park - and the South African was going to be left out of their forthcoming 25-man Football League squad.
Although the 26-year-old started the opening day of the season at West Ham in the Carabao Cup, he has failed to make another appearance this term.
Indeed, he hasn’t even been included in Pompey’s 20-man match-day squad for their last three matches, having fallen further behind in the battle for first-team spots.
With the signings of Rocco Shein, Iyad Mohamed and Odin Bailey in the centre of midfield, plus Marlon Pack and Ebou Adams’ return to fitness, the door was effectively closed on Le Roux’s playing chances.
He totalled just 17 appearances, despite being rarely absent through injury. Damningly, with Pompey desperate to recruit a number six this summer, he also continued to be overlooked for a position he is suited to.
Le Roux’s case will again raise questions over Pompey’s recruitment since they returned to the Championship for the 2024-25 season.
