Adrian Segecic’s Portsmouth No10 ambition as he makes Championship preference clear
Adrian Segecic has made it clear he’s happy at Pompey in an interview with The News earlier this week. Now he details how can continue causing damage in the Championship next term.
Adrian Segecic believes he can continue to wreak havoc in the Championship as a No10.
Pompey’s top goal scorer last season has stated a clear preference to operate in a central attacking role moving forward at Fratton Park.
Segecic on being Pompey’s No10: ‘I’m buzzing about what’s to come’

Segecic is confident that is where he can be most effective, after his powerful finale to last term caught the eye.
The 22-year-old produced eight goal contributions from the final five games, comprising five goals and three assists to cement his position at the head of the Fratton goal charts.
Despite being handed a place on the right flank, all of the in-demand attacker’s goals came from central areas a No10 would usually operate in.
Conor Chaplin’s surprise homecoming at the end of last year’s summer window blocked Segecic’s pathway to regular football in that area of the pitch.
But with Chaplin moving on, it appears the Croatia man conceivably has a clear run at operating in his preferred role next term.
That’s something which excites Segecic, who is clear that is where he’s best suited - and can do the most damage.
He said: ‘Last season I feel like we wanted to make it work, where I was playing off the right but I could still get in those areas.
‘I was able to get in that No10 pocket, that’s where I scored a lot of goals for Sydney FC a couple of years ago.
‘I’m now adapting here and making it work, but it’s where I scored all of my goals from at the end of last season.
‘I feel like that’s where I’m most effective and now it’s just about how can I carry on being that effective? How can I be that effective as a No10?
‘I will then also be able to have that winger next to me as well, to offer some more support.
‘I feel like now I can have that freedom within the structure to be able to play, I’m honestly buzzing about being able to do that now.
‘I’m comfortable in the way we play and I’ve got to know the boys now.
‘The coaching staff have also got to kniw me, that is allowing me to go into the season with a lot of confidence.
‘Coming off the back of what I did last season I can’t wait for the season to start - I’m buzzing about what’s to come.’
