Portsmouth stalwart provides promising update over Fratton Park future
Connor Ogilvie has amassed 188 appearances for Pompey during his four-and-a-half-year stay at Fratton Park.
Connor Ogilvie has declared his ambition to remain with Pompey beyond his current contract, which is set to expire this summer.
And the popular 30-year-old has revealed ‘conversations’ have already taken place with the Blues over an extension on existing Fratton agreement.
The defender, who has impressed in a more central role in the backline in recent weeks, is one of seven contracted members of John Mousino’s squad who could all leave at the end of the season for free.
Among those are skipper Marlon Pack, Andre Dozzell, Zak Swanson, Toby Steward, Jordan Archer and youngster Reuben Swann.
The head coach has voiced his intent at extending a large number of those deals - including Ogilvie, who is the longest-serving player in his squad.
The left-back has been an ever-present throughout his time on the south coast following his arrival from Gillingham in 2021 under Danny Cowley.
Since then, the fan favourite has amassed 188 outings in all competitions for the Blues and has flourished in the Championship over the past two seasons.
Connor Ogilvie discusses Pompey future
Ogilvie has revolutionised himself at centre-back in recent weeks alongside Regan Poole, amid key injuries to Conor Shaughnessy and Hayden Matthews.
This has prompted calls from the Fratton faithful to hand the League One title winner a fresh deal on the south coast at the end of the season.
And that is something the 30-year-old is keen to do - and has revealed talks are already taking place.
‘There's been conversations,’ Ogilvie told The News.
‘Obviously, I definitely want to remain here and keep playing here for as long as possible at this club.
‘Yeah, loving it. We're settled, families settled down here, so hopefully we can get it done so I can be playing here next season.’
What has John Mousinho said over Connor Ogilvie’s future?

Mousinho recently signalled his desire to keep Ogilvie beyond his existing agreement - and lauded the defender for his immense transformation into an established Championship operator.
The head coach told The News last month: ‘I hope so (there’s a desire on all sides to conclude a deal). In my opinion, he’s playing the best football of his career.
‘He’s turned himself into a Championship player. He was a Championship left-back, now he looks like he’s turning himself into a Championship centre-back.
‘My hope and desire is with a player like Connor, he knows me and the expectation of the club here.
‘I think he’s playing the best football of his career under the current management team.
‘Sometimes you can get your head turned by something else, but the grass isn’t always greener. Plenty of players here over the years have found that out. It’s a really important part of progressing as a player.
‘I talk to Connor about football, I’m aware of the situation behind the scenes but we don’t have that conversation.
‘I’d describe Connor as low-maintenance and high output: He’s a dream to work with.’
