Portsmouth boss John Mousinho provides intriguing Ebou Adams injury update ahead of upcoming return
Ebou Adams has missed Pompey’s previous three matches due to a knee injury suffered before the international break.
John Mousinho remains ‘hopeful’ Ebou Adams will complete his injury comeback against Leicester City this weekend.
However, the Pompey boss has admitted a ‘few boxes’ still need to be ticked before a return to training later this week.
And the head coach has also provided a key update over Gustavo Caballero after his withdrawal against Middlesbrough last-time out.
Adams has been a welcome addition to the Blues’ midfield following his £500,000 switch from Derby County in the January window.
The 30-year-old has amassed 14 outings during that time - of which 13 have come from the star - and has been a huge presence in Mousinho’s engine room during the second half of the campaign.
However, the Gambia international has missed Pompey’s previous three matches due to a knee issue, which was sustained during the closing stages of the 6-1 thrashing by QPR in late March.
Fresh Ebou Adams injury update ahead of upcoming return
Mousinho, though, has cast some minor doubt over Adams’ potential involvement against the Foxes this weekend, revealing the January arrival is yet to make a return to training.
While the head coach is still ‘hopeful’ of a possible inclusion in the squad on Saturday, the Blues haven’t ruled out delaying his comeback until next week when they face both Coventry City and Stoke City.
‘Ebou should be back for the weekend against Leicester,’ Mousinho told The News in his pre-Ipswich Town press conference.
‘No (he’s not back in training). Tick a few boxes on Wednesday and then get him back on Friday.
‘We’re hopeful he will and then if not Coventry or Stoke.’
Gustavo Caballero injury update ahead of Ipswich

Caballero has been a lively figure for the Blues following his deadline-day arrival from Santos in February.
The head coach revealed, though, the 24-year-old felt his groin during Saturday’s huge 1-0 win over Middlesbrough and was subsequently withdrawn after 65 minutes at the Riverside.
Despite the minor set-back, however, Blues boss has insisted Caballero hasn’t reported any further issues and has been given the green light to feature against Ipswich Town this evening.
‘Yeah Gus is okay. He felt his groin slightly on Saturday but is absolutely fine,’ Mousinho added.
‘He felt it in the first half, played through it absolutely no problems and hasn’t reported any issues in the last couple of days so he’s fine.’
