Portsmouth chief lauds ‘significant investment’ by Michael Eisner despite relegation
Pompey Women will remain a full-time professional club in the Women’s National League Southern Premier next season.
Andy Cullen has lauded Michael Eisner and owners Tornante for their continued investment into Pompey Women.
The Blues confirmed Jay Sadler’s troops would remain a full-time professional outfit next term following their relegation from the WSL 2.
Pompey propped up the second-tier table, picking up 14 points from 22 matches, with their fate already confirmed heading into the final day last month.
It means the Blues will now return to the Women’s National League Southern Premier Division, just two years after winning the title.
Pompey, of course, became professional for the first time in their history following their title-winning campaign in 2024.
And that will continue into next term, with players earning full-time contracts once again this summer.
Cullen has since lauded the ‘significant investment’ made by Eisner and owners Tornante as they seek an instant return to the WSL2.
Pompey chief lauds owners for ‘significant investment’

In a statement on the club website, the chief executive said: ‘We're thrilled that the women's team are to remain a full-time professional outfit as they head into the 2026/27 FA Women's National League campaign.
‘Despite relegation, and the consequential withdrawal of substantial central funds from the WSL, the decision to remain professional represents a significant investment from our owners.
‘Both they and the club remain fully supportive of our ambition to continue to grow the women's game in and around Portsmouth as well as inspiring more women and girls towards active, healthy lifestyles from within our community.
‘This commitment will have a major impact on our competitiveness in a tough division as we seek an early return to the WSL.
‘With this news and the confirmation that the team will play all their home league games at Fratton Park next season, this is an exciting time to be involved with Pompey Women.
‘I'm grateful to Jane and Michael Eisner and the board for their support and their increased investment in our women’s team.’
