A real nip-and-tuck battle with Jordan Williams once again, but the former Arsenal man is maturing into a dependable Pompey asset. Could well prove to be an important figure with Connor Ogilvie out and Williams potentially switching flank. Photo: Simon Roe

Pompey's key man. There was absolutely no doubt about that anyway, but spell out with ankle issue underlined the point. Was clearly playing within himself before stint out of side, but loss of crossing threat was glaring in Murphy's absence - as is the benefits of his place in the side on return. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages

Once again setting competitive standards for his side and performances warrant greater inclusion. Value off the bench is clear to see with his two-goal showing at Hull City last time out a high Pompey watermark. | Ian Lyall/ProSportsImages

Plenty of early promise from the Northern Ireland striker after deadline day arrival. Clinical maiden finish against Coventry, but should've converted gilt-edged chance against Stoke. Looks like a high ceiling for potential. Photo: Graham Hunt
