Pompey’s set-piece master returns! Threat from corners so much greater as his opener lifted the roof off Fratton. Matched with a calm and reassured defensive display as he dovetailed beautifully with Poole’s combative efforts. | Getty Images

Outstanding second-half display. Came through unsteady start against threat of Kasey McAteer. Grew into proceedings and beautiful curled ball for Bishop chance provided platform for Blues to grow after early Ipswich dominance. Showed real grit as the evening progressed with phenomenal pressing and energy. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages

Incredible character matched by quality on skipper’s 12th start on the spin. Intelligence in possession was key with metronomic display on the ball. Maintained standards for the duration and demanded the same of those around him. | Jez Tighe/ProSportsImages

Plugged every gap with relentless effort. Took a while to get into the game but was central to the impressive rearguard action, after Pompey assumed control. Distances covered must be through the roof. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages
