Do you agree with how Blues writer Jordan Cross saw it at Fratton Park?

Resilient defensively and a threat at the other end of the pitch as key man’s season gains impetus which is heartening to see. One really important intervention in the second half as Preston threatened and stepped out to good effect. | Paul Phelan/National World

Should trademark these displays where he stays effectively under the radar. Typically efficient effort, though perhaps not quite the attacking threat we’ve seen of late on this occasion. Photo: Steve Bailey

Goal the reward for an enterprising display from the midfielder as he drove Pompey forward with purpose and used the ball effectively with short and long-range passing. Scarcely put a foot wrong with a strong case to say it was a Pompey career best effort. Photo: Steve Bailey

Needed a decent display to get his Pompey career moving and delivered a quietly effective step towards doing just that. Whistled one first-half free-kick just over, was efficient in possession and made key interceptions. Pompey future clearly lies further forward, however. Photo: Simon Roe
