It’s been a frustrating start to the new season for Pompey, who currently sit four points above the relegation zone.
Despite picking up two wins in their opening four matches, the Blues have claimed just one victory in the following 11 games, which has seen them slump down the Championship table.
John Mousinho has been hampered by injuries to a number of key personnel in the opening three months of the campaign, with the likes of Josh Murphy, Conor Shaughnessy, Callum Lang, Nicolas Schmid and more unavailable at various points.
Although some members of the injured cohort are closing in on their much-anticipated returns, others like Connor Ogilvie and Thomas Waddingham are still set for an extended period on the sidelines.
But what would Pompey’s strongest XI and bench look like IF the head coach had every player at his disposal?
Although Mousinho has had to contend with injuries throughout the campaign so far, here’s how we think the Blues could line-up if they had a clean bill of health.
Do you agree with our starting XI and bench?

9. RW: Callum Lang
Lang has been another key absentee for the Blues in the opening months of the season, having been sidelined since August with a hamstring injury. The 27-year-old has missed more than three months of action after undergoing surgery but is closing in on a return to the fray. After netting 10 goals last term, he’ll be a much-needed presence in Pompey’s struggling attack. | Pro Sports Images

10. CAM: Conor Chaplin
It hasn’t clicked for Chaplin on his return to Fratton just yet, but there are improving signs to his game. The Ipswich loanee had struggled on the right in Lang’s absence but he would surely start in his preferred number 10 role when everyone's fit. | Dennis Goodwin/ProSportsImages

11. LW: Josh Murphy
No debating his spot in the side. The 2024-25 Player of the Season has been a revelation during his time at Fratton, with his threat on the left causing Championship defences nightmares. Despite missing a significant chunk of the campaign with an ankle issue, the 30-year-old will be aiming to stay fit and help Pompey climb the table. | Graham Hunt

12. ST: Colby Bishop
The Magic Man has struggled for goals this term, netting in just one of his 15 appearances to date. The striker has found goals throughout his time on the south coast and if every player was to return to full fitness, could that rekindle his goal-scoring touch. Despite his issues in front of goal, he remains Pompey’s strongest option to lead the line. Photo: Getty Images
