‘Have to fight’: Portsmouth striker's forceful Championship message after £3m summer switch
Marko Milovanovic has scored three goals for Pompey since his multi-million pound summer arrival.
Marko Milovanovic has detailed the challenges he’s facing in the Championship as he continues to adapt to English football.
And the multi-million pound Pompey striker is backing his ability to be a force of nature to opposition defenders and become one of the division’s best forwards.

Milovanovic, who is also known as Marezi, made the move to PO4 in a £3m deal from Spanish side UD Almeria in July as the Blues splashed the cash to bolster John Mousinho’s front-line.
Although the powerful frontman is yet to complete a full 90 minutes on the south coast, he has enjoyed an impressive start in front of goal, netting three times in the league - including Saturday’s winner in the Blues’ 1-0 win over Norwich City.
Prior to his Fratton Park move, Marezi enjoyed a brilliant season-long loan stint in Portugal with Alverca, where he scored nine goals in 31 league appearances.
Pompey striker’s forceful Championship message
And while he continues to adapt to the physical demands that the Championship offers, the Blues powerhouse is confident he has the ability to impress at the level.
He told The News: ‘The Championship, this league is different to the leagues that I have played so I need that time to adapt. It’s been amazing.
‘It’s very different. It is more physical because every game I have to fight the defenders, who are very strong and are quick but I can do it. That’s what I’m trying to do.
‘Sometimes you don’t score but you help your team in whatever role you play (when playing against big defenders).’
Marezi feeling the Pompey love

Strikes against Bristol City, Cardiff City and Norwich City have seen Marezi solidify himself as the Blues’ top scorer in the Championship this term, one goal above Zak Swanson, Adrian Segecic and Ebou Adams.
Indeed, the striker is already popular figure amongst supporters, who have serenaded the Serbian with a large repertoire of chants both home and on the road.
And Marezi has welcomed the brilliant reception he’s received from the Fratton faithful as his fledgling Pompey career begins to take shape.
‘It’s been amazing. Our fans are special so I’m really happy here.
‘I’m really enjoying it, they are amazing. I can’t wait to play every single game in front of them. Even away they are special. It’s amazing.’
