The brutally honest comments Portsmouth faithful have posted on social media after watching latest loss at Sheffield United

Pompey fans have been sharing their thoughts on the Blues’ 3-0 defeat at Sheffield United

Pompey fans on social media have been having their say on Wednesday night’s defeat at the hands of fellow Championship strugglers Sheffield United.

The Blues lost 3-0 on their latest visit to Bramall Lane to continue the club’s 70-year wait for a win at the home of the Blades.

All the goals came after Terry Devlin was sent off on 39 minutes, after he cleared a goalbound effort off the line with his arm following a United corner kick.

Sydie Peck converted the subsequent penalty, before Patrick Bamford scored his first goal for the hosts on 54 minutes following another poorly defended set-piece delivery into the box.

A poor night for Pompey was then compounded on 73 minutes when substitute Gus Hamer hammered home from outside the box.

The result - the Blues’ eighth of the season -and disappointing performance sees John Mousinho’s side drop to 20th in the table and two points above the drop zone.

It also saw many members of the Fratton faithful take to social media to comment on what they had just witnessed from their side.

And it’s clear the positivity that emerged following Saturday’s 3-1 win against Millwall is long forgotten as supporters come to terms with yet another loss and another defeat on the road.

Here’s a sample of what’s been said on our Portsmouth FC - The News Facebook page.

How Pompey fans have reacted to 3-0 defeat at Sheffield United

Frank Hoskins: No one wants relegation, but not funding the team to be competitive in this league, squanders the years it took to get out of league 1.

The owners will not be forgiven for their lack of team funding. Perhaps it is time they pass the mantle onto owners who have the necessary drive to move this club forward.

Clive Atterbury: We beat 3 clubs at the top in Milwall, Middlesbrough and Preston and now lost to 3 clubs in the bottom 4. Where is the consistency?

Steve Taylor: No leadership...No passion...No idea.

Doug McEwen: And all those fans who thought our problems were solved by beating Millwall... That was a totally dire performance all round against another very poor team. No passion. No desire. No commitment. No tactics. No quality. Embarrassing!

Peter Evans: Absolute shambles. Absolute joke. Pompey should reimburse all those travelling supporters. However, relegation beckons.

Matt Smith: We absolutely got outplayed from the first whistle to the last. Instead of trying hard to find positives, call it for what it was. It was a shambles and it’s the same things happening time and time again. Fans aren’t managers, not ex players and absolutely don’t see what happens at the training ground… but we all see what happens on match days!

Dean Johns: Absolutely diabolical performance.

Barrie Jenkins: What made it worse was that I actually thought SU were pretty poor

Artful Dodger: Moushino does know we DON’T have to have at least 1 drubbing away from home a season doesn’t he? The only reason we didn't have 4 or 5 past us last night is because Utd was just as poor as us.

Paul Edward Hayter: Think the manager has taken Pompey as far as he can unfortunately.

Steven Vine: We have got worse at defending corners unfortunately. Until we do better, we ain’t winning many games!!!!!

Colin Shaw: Make a tweak about defending set plays? Needs more than a tweak, we have conceded 10 goals from set plays so far. If you think either of those two halves were acceptable it's time for you to go I'm afraid.
