Pompey slipped to successive Championship defeats after late, late heartbreak against Sheffield United.
John Mousinho’s men should have established a comfortable first-half lead, only to spurn a glut of goal-scoring opportunities and end up going in at the break 0-0.
They didn’t offer as much of a threat after the break, yet still had their moments and were still the better team.
However, on a Blades counter-attack following a Pompey free-kick, Andre Brooks slid the ball into the net at the far post for a 90th-minute winner.
And here are our Pompey player ratings...

5. Connor Ogilvie - 7
Another comfortable showing in the centre of defence and barely put a foot wrong. Such a reliable performer and will now be tough to remove from this latest role. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages

6. Zak Swanson - 7
(Replaced by Jordan Williams on 71 mins) - Took a blow to the back of his head midway through the first half but shrugged it off and put in another strong performance. What a season he’s having. Photo: Graham Hunt

7. Andre Dozzell - 7
(Replaced by Luke Le Roux on 80 mins) The latest worrying casualty for Pompey. Earlier in the second half he kicked Bamford’s foot and received lengthy treatment. Then later came off with what looked like an ankle issue. Photo: Graham Hunt

8. Ebou Adams - 8 - MOM
Has a remarkable knack that even when second favourite for a ball, he gets to it first. Scrapped and battled away, irritated Phillips, and loved by the Fratton faithful. Such a pivotal player. Photo: Graham Hunt
