Exclusive:Portsmouth boss delivers latest on Adrian Segečić s future amid Birmingham City interest
John Mousinho has confirmed there’s no bids currently on the table for Adrian Segečić amid Birmingham City’s interest.
But the Pompey boss anticipates that situation potentially changing between now and the close of the January window at 11pm next Tuesday.
Birmingham are keen on Segečić, as the Championship big spenders aim to improve their attacking options.
They are also reportedly interested in Ipswich Town’s Anis Mehmeti in that department, with talk of a bid from the St Andrews outfit and Wrexham also said to be on his trail.
Mousinho told The News this evening there’s nothing concrete on the table for Segečić from Birmingham - or any other outfit at this stage.
The Pompey boss sees the potential for that changing, however, with his club ready to react in the event of a suitable offer being received for the prized asset.
He said: ‘There’s absolutely no movement, no bid and no firm interest. There’s no change on that.
‘I think there definitely could be (a change in that situation before the window’s close).
‘We’re ready for that and we’ll have to have a cut-off point for that in our heads for when that could be done.
‘We don’t know at the minute (what will happen). It’s out of control what other clubs do, but at the moment there’s nothing cooking.’
There has been transfer activity both in and out over recent days, with midfielder Iyad Mohamed joining from Portuguese side Casa Pia.
Meanwhile, Josh Knight has departed to League One side Reading on loan for the rest of the season.
There will likely need to be more movement out to comply with the EFL’s 25-man squad rules, but Mousinho is looking to focus on incomings.
He added: ‘It’s going well (in terms of recruitment), I still think we’re pretty short here and there.
‘There’s been a bit of movement this week on the outs, it’s just important now we focus on being stronger when the window closes Tuesday night.’
