Callum Lang, Jacob Farrell and Luke Le Roux: Portsmouth player exit latest at transfer window’s climax
Callum Lang’s Pompey fate is going right to the transfer deadline wire.
The News understands talks are still ongoing with Preston North End over a £1.75m to Deepdale, as the hours become minutes until this evening’s 7pm deadline.
It still appears it could go either way in terms of a deal getting over the line, but it’s believed Lang is not in the city and is indeed in the north west.
Pompey appear to be relaxed over whether the transfer will be completed today or not, with John Mousinho indicating at his press briefing this afternoon he would be more than happy for the player to remain at PO4.
The Blues are set for a late flurry of transfer activity, which will likely go beyond the 7pm cut-off in terms of announcements.
To balance off that business, players will need to be moved on or deregistered as Pompey comply with the EFL’s 25-man squad rules.
The News understands one of the players on their way this evening will be Jacob Farrell, who is close to sealing a loan move to Australia to get regular minutes after an injury-ravaged Fratton stay to date.
Another player touted for an exit is Luke Le Roux, with the South African enduring a tough time after his £1m summer arrival. The News understands, however, he’s now set to remain at PO4.
