Portsmouth to host Exeter in EFL Trophy semi-final

Pompey will play host to Exeter City in the semi-final of the EFL Trophy.

The Blues will entertain the Grecians at Fratton Park on the week commencing February 17.

They’ll be bidding to become the first team to successfully defend the trophy after last season’s penalty shoot-out success against Sunderland.

Pompey booked their place in the last four with a 2-1 win against Scunthorpe on Tuesday night.

Exeter, who are currently second in League Two, progressed with a 3-0 victory over Stevenage.

In the other semi-final, Newport or Leicester under-21s will play Salford.

Both semi-final ties are set to be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

In a good Cup week for Pompey, Kenny Jackett’s side also progressed into the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 4-2 victory over Barnsley today.
