The left-back has signed a two-year deal at Rugby Park, subject to approval from the Scottish FA.

Haunstrup had been on trial with the Scottish Premier League side after turning down a new deal at Fratton Park.

The Waterlooville lad rejected a dresh contract with the Blues, having been offered improved terms.

Haunstrup had grown frustrated by the lack of first-team opportunities at his hometown club.

After making his debut against Derby in 2015, he’d make just a further 56 appearances across five seasons.

During the 2019-20 campaign, Haunstrup was handed 19 outings in total – in both left-back and right-back roles – and scored his maiden Pompey goal in a 2-1 FA Cup victory at Harrogate.

However, he found opportunities difficult to come by in the second half of the campaign.

Haunstrup was behind Lee Brown and Birmingham loanee Steve Seddon in the pecking order.

He was named in just two of the final 15 match-day squads and was omitted for both legs in the play-off semi-final defeat to Oxford.

He played in a trial game for Alex Dyer’s side against Motherwell last week.

Now he’s done enough to impress to win a contract and departs the club he’s been at since he was six.

Haunstrup told Kilmarnock’s website: ‘The move has been in the pipeline for a little while and I couldn’t wait to get up here and I’m delighted it is all sorted.

‘As a player, I’m energetic and like getting forward and I’m happy playing left back or as a wing back.

‘The manager, coaching staff and players all seem great and I can’t wait to get started.’
