The Football League have staged a U-turn after removing salary cap voting rights from Wycombe, Rotherham and Coventry.

The promoted sides were previously set to have a vote in whether League One would adapt a wage ceiling.

Instead, the EFL have had a rethink ahead of the August 6 deadline.

Relegated sides Charlton, Wigan and Hull will instead be allowed an input.

What’s more, Blues chief executive Mark Catlin believes a mini auction could take place in the third tier before the vote.

That is because the Football League have scrapped plans for a June 30 deadline before players qualify for inclusion under the proposed.

As a result, clubs could seek to take advantage, although Pompey won’t be offering any 'crazy contracts’ in the uncertain financial climate.
