Brett Pitman marked his first league start for Swindon by netting in their 4-2 win at home to Burton – a result which sees the newly-promoted Robins sit sixth in the table.

Meanwhile, Steve Seddon marked his return to AFC Wimbledon on loan from parent club Birmingham by scoring the Dons’ winner at Fleetwood.

That 1-0 victory – their first in the third tier this term – sees Glyn Hodges’ side move up to eighth in the standings.

Pitman, whose Pompey contract was not renewed at the end of last season, scored 41 goals in 99 appearances for the Blues.

His goal today for Swindon was his first since netting Pompey’s winner against Altrincham in the FA Cup on November 30, 2019.

Meanwhile, it was the first time he scored in the league for nearly a year, with his last strike in League One coming in the Blues’ 1-0 victory against Bolton on September 28, 2019.

Seddon scored one goal in 18 loan appearances for Pompey last term, with his winner against Fleetwood just the eighth of his career.

The Blues were keen for the left-back to return to Fratton Park this summer but instead brought in Cameron Pring from Bristol City.

Elsewhere, Oli Hawkins, who left PO4 in the summer, recorded an assist as top-of-the-table Ipswich beat Rochdale 2-0.

Another Pompey old-boy, Gareth Evans, made his debut for Bradford City against Stevenage in League Two.

A day after swapping Fratton Park for Valley Parade, Evans was used as a 66th-minute substitute and helped the Bantams secure a 2-1 win.
