And that represents a figure that exceeds the 42,000 Blues supporters who attended last year’s victory over Sunderland at the home of football – a game that attracted an overall crowd of 85,021.

Pompey take on League Two Salford at Wembley on Sunday, April 5 (3pm).

They have been allocated 50,300 tickets for the game, with the Lions being handed an initial batch of 3,000.

But with tickets yet to go on general sale, the Blues have already sold nearly 85 per cent of the tickets sent their way.

Pompey are currently at stage two (season-ticket holders and members) of the sales process.

Tickets go on general sale on Friday, March 6.

Online sales start from 3pm, with phone sales beginning at 10am on Saturday, March 7.

Supporters wishing to buy in person from the Anson Road ticket office can do so from 9am on Tuesday, March 10.
