The Bristol City left-back today arrived on a season-long loan and will challenge Lee Brown for a starting spot.

The 22-year-old has previously had loan spells at Aldershot, Hereford, Newport County, Cheltenham and Walsall to boost his development.

Pring made 24 appearances for League Two Walsall last term, including facing the Blues in the Leasing.com Trophy in January.

Considering his age, he will count towards Pompey's squad maximum of 22 players, as stipulated by the salary cap and Football League.

That leaves two spaces for Kenny Jackett to fill – or three should he not register third-choice keeper Duncan Turnbull.

Pring, who will wear the number 23 shirt, joins Sean Raggett in signing for the Blues this summer.
