The Blues continue to cast their eye over the Lewes goalkeeper after impressing during an initial four-week trial.

Following Luke McGee’s loan departure to Bradford, Petar Durin’s release and Leon Pitman’s wrist injury, Seymour’s on-going presence has become even more important.

The 18-year-old has featured in three Premier League Cup matches since the turn of the year, most recently a 2-1 defeat at Exeter earlier this month.

In addition, the England Colleges representative has turned out six times for the Academy, while continues to train alongside first-team keepers Craig MacGillivray and Alex Bass under the tutelage of John Keeley.

And with Seymour present three days a week at Pompey’s Hilsea training base, Kenny Jackett wants to see more of him.

The Blues boss said: ‘Taylor is training with us, he has some qualifications to do in terms of his own work and that will finish towards the end of the season.

‘He has been in and in and around our youth team and can still play youth-team football this year, while has been training with the senior keepers, particularly since Luke McGee has gone.

‘It’s good to have him around and for us to have a look at him. I have seen in under-23 games against Exeter at home and away, which have been good for him.

‘Taylor usually comes in three days a week and has done well. For somebody who is 18 and can still play youth football, he is fine.

‘We will see as the season goes on, we’ll carry on with that situation at the moment.’

In terms of Pompey’s reserves, Seymour has turned out in a 1-1 draw at Plymouth, a 2-2 draw at Nyewood Lane against Exeter and then the reverse fixture, a 2-1 loss, this month.

Meanwhile, regular Academy stopper Leon Pitman is continuing his fight for fitness following his hand injury, an absence which has allowed Seymour to feature.
