The News understands the front man is currently training with Bournemouth’s under-23 side and is not part of Kenny Jackett’s plans.

It is believed he’ll continue his arrangement with the Cherries until further notice.

Pitman hasn’t featured for the Blues since coming on as a 72nd-minute substitute in the December 29 defeat at the hands of MK Dons.

That represented his 16th appearance of the season, taking his overall tally of Pompey outings to 99 since his arrival in the summer of 2017.

He’s scored 42 goals in that time – but hasn’t made an appearance since.

In fact, the former Bournemouth and Ipswich front man hasn’t been involved in a Blues match-day squad since the trip to Gillingham on January 1.

That’s seven matches without any involvement in Pompey’s recent run of form that has seen them move into promotion contention.

Last week The News revealed that the 32-year-old had trained at home in the build up to Saturday’s win against Sunderland.

After beginning his career at Bournemouth, the striker has enjoyed three spells at the Vitality Stadium.

In total, he’s made 301 appearances and scored 102 goals.
