There’s never been another window quite like this one in terms of the Blues moving quickly to complete their business - with NINE players already in the building.
But what do fans actually know of the new arrivals? We’ve done our homework to give a breakdown of what the signings bring to the table – and where they realistically fit into John Mousinho’s plans.
5. Terry Devlin
Going to bring high levels of energy, with the Northern Irish teenager an option for the front end of midfield. There was the question of whether this was one for the future, but it’s become apparent the 19-year-old is viewed as an option for now. Not expected to be an immediate starter, but his drive, tenacity and eye for a goal could come into play as the season progresses. Photo: Portsmouth FC
6. Jack Sparkes
A player viewed as a decent option to bring in on a free transfer from Exeter. Seems pretty evident the 22-year-old will start the campaign as back-up to Connor Ogilvie, who John Mousinho values highly. Probably one of the best out-of-contract left-backs around at Pompey’s level who will bring attacking intent, but perhaps seen as an option who can be developed and improved. Photo: Portsmouth FC
7. Ben Stevenson
One which came as a bit of a surprise with Pompey looking fairly well stocked in the middle of the park. The 26-year-old does offer something different to what his new side have in terms of profile, is a good size at over 6ft and has decent technical ability. Can play as an eight, but most likely to start as back-up defensive midfield option. Photo: Portsmouth FC
8. Gavin Whyte
A fairly high-profile arrival as he leaves Cardiff, the Northern Ireland international is perhaps one of two outfield signings so far this summer who is expected to be in the starting XI. Has shown he can produce goals and assists in his career, but has the ability to deliver greater end product than he has of late. Pacy and direct, the 27-year-old can play through the middle but looks nailed on for the right flank. Photo: Portsmouth FC
