Fine save from Schofield

Jayden Clarke finds himself through on goal. The angle is tight, though, and Schofield stays big and imposing to divert the shot wide for a corner, which comes to nothing.

Pompey 5-1 Gillingham

It’s all over at Fratton

A standing ovation from the South Stand awaits the Blues as they produce a five-star showing in the EFL Trophy tonight.

A very entertaining game that saw five different Pompey players on the scoresheet.

Pompey were excellent in front of goal tonight. If you get a chance to see the highlights of the game, watch it. Four of their five goals were pure quality for a host of reasons. There were spells were Gillingham had plenty of possession - in the latter stages of the first half and immediately after the break. Yet in those spells Ryan Schofield’s goal was barely threatened apart from Jonny Williams’ goal, Pompey were able to restrict them to very little in front of goal and that gave the Blues the foundations to add to Tino Anjorin’s superb opener. The goals from Stevenson, Yengi, and Kamara were top quality. Pompey certainly have an abundance of talent to chose from when it comes to their attacking threat. Five different scorers were on target, too - and that’s with Colby Bishop given the night off! This is a good way to head into the international break! Well done, Pompey.
