Portsmouth weighing up move for 18-goal Plymouth Argyle striker also wanted by Rangers and Norwich

The News understands Pompey have an interest in Canadian striker Bim Pepple, who scored 18 goals for Plymouth Argyle this season

Pompey have been monitoring Plymouth Argyle forward Bim Pepple.

The News understands reports that have credited the Blues with an interest in the striker are correct, with representatives of the Fratton Park side understood to have watched the 23-year-old on multiple occasions during the 2025-26 season.

Pepple, who cost the Pilgrims a figure of around £250,000 from Luton last summer, has been in impressive form for Tom Cleverley’s side this term, scoring 18 goals during his maiden campaign at Home Park.

Those goals helped Plymouth finish eighth in their first season back in League One following relegation from the Championship at the end of the 2024-25 season.

They could also help Pepple land a big-money move up the footballing pyramid, with Pompey among a host of English clubs to have checked out the player in recent months.

His value has soared, in particular, since the start of the start of the calendar year, with 15 of Pepple’s goals this season coming in 2026.

As a result, Pompey would need to spend well in advance of the £1.25m figure they forked out for Hayden Matthews in January 2025 - a sum which remains the club’s biggest outlay on a player during owners Tornante’s nine years in charge at Fratton Park.

They will also need to see off plenty of competition from abroad for a player who is under contract at Home Park until 2029.

However, with Pepple keen to establish himself as a regular in the Canada national team following a maiden call-up in March, it’s understood that a move to the Championship will provide him with the best opportunity to do that.

The Blues are keen to bolster a striker department that had Colby Bishop finish as its four-goal top scorer this season,

The News understands that Pepple is one of a number of options they are currently weighing up both at home and abroad ahead of the transfer window openinhg next month.
