The Fratton Park duo, who are both third-year scholars, have spent time at Gosport Borough garnering regular first-team experience this season.

However, the national lockdown means all non-elite sport is banned and suspended Borough’s Southern League premier division campaign.

The Irish League falls into the category of elite sport and is allowed to continue, however.

Teggart and Storey, who have featured for the Blues in the Papa John’s Trophy this term, remained in Ulster with their respective families after returning home for Christmas.

Left-winger Teggart has already rejoined Cliftonville – the club he moved to P04 from for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2018. The Reds are currently sixth in the table.

Now Mark Kellyis optimistic midfielder Storey, who arrived from Portadown in July 2019, will also complete a loan switch to Northern Ireland’s top flight.

Pompey’s player development manager told The News: ‘The Irish League is still playing so it’s an opportunity for them to go and get some minutes which they wouldn’t get too much of if they were over here.

‘Harry Kavanagh and Alfie Stanley (also third-year scholars) have been in the first-team environment since before Christmas.

‘Gerard and Teggy went home with the thought process of coming back and playing non-league football over here.

‘That’s obviously not happening so it’ll probably be loan deals in Northern Ireland for them. I’ve had a few enquiries and they’ll probably be playing over there.

‘I can check on their development from afar because I can get all the game footage sent to me so I’ll keep on top of it that way.’

Teggart has made two appearances for Kenny Jackett’s side after making his debut against Norwich under-21s last season.
