But this was no ordinary poll put out to the Fratton faithful. It was, in fact, asked by Marie Curtis on Twitter.

And on Wednesday she reached out to her 2,400-plus followers to gauge their opinion on an important issue that many of us have already pondered over ourselves.

Indeed, the Irishwoman posed the query to members of the Fratton faithful after Wigan went into administration: ‘If Jamal Lowe wanted to return to Pompey is it YES /NO.’

The ex-Hampton & Richmond wide man left Pompey for the Latics last summer following a protracted transfer saga.

Lowe scored 30 goals in 119 appearances during his time at on the south coast and has netted four times in 42 outings for Paul Cook's men in the Championship this term.

Should Wigan need to sell off assets due to their financial difficulties then the ex-Barnet man would be one of their most valuable assets.

But would the Fratton faithful like to see him back at Pompey?

Well, the Twitterati were not shy in expressing their opinions.

Here's how a selection of fans responded to Marie's all-important question...

@PompeyPedro

Yes. Anyone who says no is on another planet. Good player.

I like Lowe but think Harness and Williams are more than good enough on the right wing

@jackettsjacket

Probably would take him back but think club priority will be in other positions, him & your great lad were unstoppable together at times. The way he left & Cook left a year earlier left a bitter taste with some fans given the success both have had at club during their time.

@Antony_D_

No thanks. Only player Ive ever seen not try in a Pompey shirt, in the pre season when he was pushing for a move. More than happy with

@MarcusHarness and Williams on the right

@Johndriverpomp1

Definitely a yes from me, I was gutted when he left. Don't think we'll ever see him in a Pompey shirt again though.

I don't think we need anymore players in that position, Harness and Williams also both have better work rates in my opinion. Jamal was class don't get me wrong but don't know if he would get that form back.

@fulltimeunit

Controversial maybe, but I'd take him back in a heartbeat. I think anyone who was there at Notts County would agree. He's got a certain calmness on the ball that I think is currently missing at pompey

@SteveJT67

Thought the grass was greener... it's a NO from me
