Portsmouth transfer deadline-day business continues as South American star seals switch
Pompey have announced their sixth signing of the winter transfer window.
Pompey have announced the signing of forward Gustavo Caballero from Brazilian outfit Santos.
The Blues’ transfer business continues to accelerate, with their deadline-day business accelerating.
The 24-year-old becomes the sixth new arrival of the window so far following the signings of Millenic Alli, Ebou Adams, Keshi Anderson, Aji Alese and Jacob Brown.
Caballero has penned a loan move for the second half of the campaign at Fratton Park, which sees him seal a switch from the Brazilian top-flight.
What has John Mousinho said about Gustavo Caballero?

Mousinho told the club wesbite: Gustavo was a player who we were tracking in the summer, but he went to Santos in the end.
‘So we’re delighted to be able to bring him here now and he’s been over in the country for the past couple of days.
‘He’s a really fast winger who has that ability to get bums out of seats, so we’re excited to have him here now.’
Who is Gustavo Caballero?
After coming through the ranks with Paraguayan outfit Deportivo Capiata, Caballero made the move to Ameliano before sealing a switch to Club Nacional in 2022.
During a three-year stay with the Primera Division outfit, the forward, who can operate either out wide or in attack, netted 20 goals and provided seven assists in 107 outings in all competitions.
The Paraguay youth international then completed a $1.6m move to Brazilian top-flight outfit Santos in 2025, where he’s since registered two goal contributions in 14 outings.
Caballero makes the move to Fratton Park, with Pompey sitting four points above the relegation zone following Saturday’s 3-0 win over West Brom.
