‘I’ve always known’: Portsmouth newcomer delivers impressive verdict over Luton Town loanee after excellent introduction
Jacob Brown joined former Luton Town team-mate Millenic Alli at Fratton Park on deadline day.
Jacob Brown has insisted Millenic Alli is a dream to play with as he links up with his former Luton Town team-mate at Fratton Park
And the 27-year-old is not surprised by the winger’s impressive start to his loan stint on the south coast following his switch from Kenilworth Road.
Alli has been in fine form for the Blues since his move from the Hatters in the winter transfer window, which has seen him solidify his spot in John Mousinho’s side.
The forward has filled the void left by Josh Murphy on the left wing, with the 30-year-old still sidelined due to ongoing injury issues. This has allowed the Luton loanee to start all five of his matches for the Blues to date, amassing two goal contributions as well as establishing himself as an early fan favourite.
Brown, of course, reunites with Alli following his deadline-day switch from the League One outfit, having also penned a loan deal at PO4 for the remainder of the campaign.
The pair worked closely at Kenilworth Road together following the winger’s switch in January 2025 and have since re-established that connection at Pompey.
The duo were both named in John Mousinho’s starting XI for Saturday’s defeat to Preston North End at Deepdale and linked-up on occasions in the north west.
Prior to his Fratton move, Brown has revealed he had been tracking his team-mates progress on the south coast and is hoping to combine throughout the second half of the season.
Jacob Brown on ex-Luton team-mate’s Pompey progress

‘Yeah, when he signed he got off to a flyer and contributed goals to the team, which is what I’ve always known he can do. For him to get the chance to show that in the Championship, I’m really happy for him.
‘He adds a lot of quality to the team and as a striker you want someone who can get the ball in the box. Milly does that and hopefully we can connect a lot this season.
‘As a striker, that’s exactly what you want. Balls into the box and Milly does that.
‘He’s direct, he can cross with his right or left (foot) and he’s a good player to play with.’
Brown and Alli spent 12 months together at Luton and featured in both the Championship and League One for the Hatters.
The duo both penned loan deals for the remainder of the campaign at Fratton Park and will be bidding to keep the Blues, who sit one point above the relegation zone, in the second tier.
